The Lykes Insurance Learning Series: Excelleration 2008 is committed to bringing information and success oriented learning opportunities to the business owners of Southwest Florida.  How are you controlling your total cost of risk?

The November Excelleration will bring you some current “Hot Topics” in Employment Law: ADA, FMLA, & Florida Workers’ Compensation Act.  Information will also be presented on managing Workers’ Compensation Risks to provide employers with assistance and the necessary tools to aid in proper handling of a workers’ compensation claim from beginning to end.  This will be followed by an enlightening discussion of the  potential risks for employees using their cell phones and PDA’s while behind the wheel and the liability this could create for employers.  A question and answer session will be conducted during lunch. Note that HRCI credits are approved for PHR, SPHR,  GPHR.

Brian S. Bartley, Esq.  Managing Partner, Kelly Kronenberg, et. al., Fort Myers

Brian graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Miami with a BA in Political Science.  While attending the University of Miami School of Law, he served as Research and Symposium Editor for the Inter-American Law Review, graduating cum laude in 1996. Brian represents clients throughout Southwest Florida in areas of Workers’ Compensation defense  and Personal Injury defense.

Martin D. Stern, Esq. Director of General Liability, Kelly Kronenberg, et. al., Ft. Lauderdale

Martin graduated from Florida Atlantic University with honors and attended Widener University School of Law, where he was admitted to the Moot Court Honor Society. He’s an AV rated attorney who has been practicing law for nearly 15 years. Martin handles the defense of general liability claims with focus on personal injury litigation, construction law, Coverage B, and indemnity claims.

 Angelo M. Filippi, Esq. Head of Employment & Labor Law, Kelly Kronenberg, et. al., Ft. Lauderdale

Angelo received his BA from New York University and his JD from St. John’s School of Law.  He was recently appointed by the Broward County Commission to serve on its Human Relations Board.  He is also a member of the EEOC’s Employer Advisory Counsel. He previously served as a Committee Chair for HRABC and the Employment Law Section of the Florida Bar.
